He made lasting friendships wherever he went and will be remembered as a genuinely jolly person who loved all. He cared for his family and friends dearly. Angus retired back home in Cape Breton where he met his wife, Joan. Angus belonged to “The Canadian American Club” of Boston, where he enjoyed many social events. Angus also drove a truck for a period of time. In Boston, he became a carpenter in Local 33. He then moved on to Boston where he made his home for many years. He left Brook Village as a young man, starting his career mining in Ontario. Funeral mass will be held Thursday July 28th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. He thoroughly enjoyed large family get-togethers, especially, when his great-grandchildren were present. He was deeply committed to his family and well loved by all his grandchildren. Among his many accomplishments, his interest in mechanics and cars led to the creation of the MacDonald Speedway, a dirt track that he built with his brothers on the old farm on Livingstone Road. Over the years, Cameron was also heavily involved with the improvements and maintenance of the Little Judique Harbour facilities, where he spent much of his spare time and energy creating a useful and important community harbour. He also spent his years as a carpenter in the local area and was a long-standing member of the Carpenters Union, Local 1588. He started lobster fishing as a young boy with his father and retired at the age of 80. He became a permanent fixture of the Chestico Days Parade in Port Hood, at the wheel of the fire department’s historic 1934 fire truck. Cameron was a member of the Port Hood and District Volunteer Fire Department for 61 years and as a founding member he was known for his dedication and commitment to the department.
Cameron is predeceased by his parents brothers, Roderick (Doddie), John Francis, Neily and great-grand-daughter Halle. (Big John) and Margaret (Livingstone) MacDonald. Cameron was born in Little Judique on July 25th, 1937, to the late Angus D. He is also survived by his siblings Rose (Sonny), Helen, Syl (Jeanette) and Elizabeth.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa (MacLellan) MacDonald sons, Stevie (Denise) Halifax, Robbie, Texas, Trevor (Mary), Little Judique, Angus (Ann), Little Judique daughters, Anne, Mabou, Brenda (Peter), Mabou, Lila (Benny), Mabou, Nancy (Darryl) Pickering, and Helen (Jamie), Port Hood as well as 28 grandchildren and 20 great -grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by many cousins, aunts, and uncles. Kenneth is also survived by many friends, especially his best friends, John Mullins and Barbara Timmons. Kenneth is survived by his father, Gerald Wyrwas, Mabou Bobby Joe Hannigan, Edmonton AB Brittany Hannigan-Basker (Brenton), Inverness nephew, Donald James “D.J” Hannigan his girlfriend of six years, Shelley West, Edmonton, AB. His favorite pastime was hanging out with family and friends. He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed watching games faithfully. He then moved out west to Edmonton, Alberta, where he worked for Western Moving Ltd Company and continued working with them for roughly 18 years. Kenneth, also known to everyone as “Maxie” graduated high school from Inverness Education Centre-Academy in 2004. Kenneth was born on December 30th, 1985, to Gerald Wyrwas and the late Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hannigan both of Inverness. Kenneth Gerald Hannigan, age 36, of Edmonton, Alberta, formerly of Inverness passed away on Tuesday June 7th, 2022.
